Wood County
Special Olympics

Wood County’s program provides year-round sports training and competition to over 450 participants in one or more sports. Athletes receive services from Wood Lane, local school districts, or special education classes provided by the Wood County Educational Service Center.

Athletes can participate in bowling, swim team, soccer, basketball, badminton, volleyball, cycling, bocce, track & field, softball, fitness training, and golf.

Athletes with and without disabilities are eligible to participate in Unified Sports. The program joins individuals of similar age and skills level to train and compete with other community members. Wood County offers Unified Sports in basketball, volleyball, softball, bowling, aquatics, cycling, bocce, and golf.

Volunteers play an essential role in the success of Wood County Special Olympics. Over 200 volunteers provide the help needed to conduct the sports training and competition programs throughout the year.
